What's the best way to get to Panicale?

The only way to get around in Panicale is to have a car. You can take a taxi to the town, but there are no taxi services once you are there to go elsewhere. Panicale is best reached by a combination of train and a short drive. If you're flying into Rome, it is a two hour train ride to Chiusi and then you can rent a car or call a taxi from there. Or, you can rent a car in Rome, or wherever your previous destination is, and drive directly to Panicale. From Rome, the drive is approximately 2 hours. You can also fly into nearby larger cities such as Florence, or Perugia, if you're planning on doing some site seeing beforehand - they have train routes that connect with Chiusi.

Travel by Train

Italy's rail network is the easiest way to travel between cities. Download the Trenitalia app (https://tinyurl.com/trenitalia-app) to map your route and buy tickets - you can book in advance, too.

Coming from Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO)? In the app, search From: Fiumicino Aeroporto To: Chiusi-Chianciano Terme. The quickest option is usually the express to Roma Termini, where you'll change trains for Chiusi-Chianciano Terme.

YOU MUST HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL DRIVING PERMIT TO DRIVE IN ITALY

For our American friends, go to AAA to get an international driving permit so you're able to legally drive while in Italy.

Chiusi Train Station

We recommend taking the train from your previous destination. The nearest station is located in nearby town, Chiusi, which is a short 20 minute drive from Panicale.
